What's the difference between solid and engineered hardwood?
What's the difference between solid and engineered hardwood?
Solid hardwood is milled from a single piece of wood and can be sanded and refinished multiple times over its lifetime. Engineered hardwood has a real hardwood top layer bonded to a plywood or HDF core, making it more stable in environments with humidity changes. Both look and feel like real wood because they are — engineered just handles moisture and temperature swings better, which is why it's popular in Colorado's dry climate.
Is SPC vinyl plank flooring waterproof?
Is SPC vinyl plank flooring waterproof?
Yes. SPC (Stone Polymer Composite) vinyl plank is 100% waterproof, making it ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and laundry rooms. Brands like Casabella FirmFit and ScubaSeal use rigid SPC cores that won't swell, warp, or buckle from moisture. It's also softer underfoot than tile and easier to install with click-lock systems.
